Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) - English version

I decided to translate our teacher's post because I think that this is an international reference of music in Romantic era so it's an interesting subject for us to publish, and translating posts it's a good way for getting more views, not only in Portugal, but in Europe, America maybe...

Here it is- today 1st February-the celebration of the 200th aniversary of Felix Mendelssohn
born!

Considered one of the most popular composers of the Romantic era - like Schuberd, Schumann, Chopin, Listz or Berlioz - he was unlucky because he died young. However he started to compose when he was eleven years old, so he let us a major title, in wich we must feature his 5 "great symphonies", his concerts for piano - he was a wonderful pianist and an orchestra chief - his snare concerts, his choirs concerts and, finaly, the famous Concert for violin nº 2. In this link you may watch the part that made him famous around the world.
